Setting platforms to develop Students` thinking and improving levels of theory and practice
--the fourth social practice activity to Hong Kong in school of economics and management
This summer, the social practice activity to Hong Kong, which was organized by the office of undergraduate students in school of economics and management, achieved a complete success again. The social practice team, including 25 undergraduates and the counselor Mr. Xu Kunyao in our school, as well as 9 undergraduates in school of foreign languages which was accompanied by their counselor Mrs. Han Rong, spent one-week time on the exchange term in Zurich Insurance Company and Walton International Group in Hong Kong. Mr. Jia Guozhu, the director of graduates, signed contracts with the two companies above and Tianhui Investment Company and attended the awarding ceremony during this period of the program. Director of career development centre, Mrs. Mou Hui, attended the ceremony along with Mr. Jia and exchanged souvenirs with these three companies. We set bases of oversea practice for students of our school in Beihang University in the three companies separately, while they awarded us strategic cooperating unit of international financial elites exchanging plan.
Our social practice team got trained in Zurich Insurance Company for the first three days, during which we visited the Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited for half a day. In the next two days, students visited the famous solid ground investment group-Walton International Group and acquired knowledge about their operating system. Having the chance to be guided by experts in Hong Kong financial field and to communicate directly with senior managers in well-known companies, students responded generally that they gained a lot about professional knowledge including banking, insurance, investment and stock exchange.
During our stay in Hong Kong, all students in the team took this chance seriously and developed a positive attitude toward this visit. Some groups even stayed up till midnight in order to prepare for the presentation based upon the given financial cases. The outstanding performance of our students left a deep impression to these companies and they spoke highly of the whole team. Zurich, Walton and Tianhui expressed their hope for further cooperation with our school.
Office of undergraduate students in our school will continuously accumulate experiences and resources in the future and keep the project of Hong Kong social practice as one of the highlights in our school. Meanwhile, we will spare no efforts in broadening the platform and seeking for resources through which can provide more chances for students to acquire knowledge in practice and get themselves improved, taking adequate advantage of social practice.
