The 6th Beihang IEB Forum Successfully Held

In Nov 9, 2019, the sixth Beihang International Economics and Business (IEB) Forum was held at the New Main Building Conference Center of Beihang. The forum themed as "Frontiers in Theory and Practice of FinTech", is organized by the Institute of Economics & Business and School of Economics & Management. The conference invited many well-known scholars from world-class universities and enterprises including Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, University of York, Graduate Institute of Geneva, Tsinghua University, Peking University, Fudan University, Sun Yat-sen University, Central University of Finance and Economics, Capital University of Economics and Business, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Southern University of Science and Technology, Tsinghua PBCSF, Beihang University and Ernst & Young, Agricultural Bank of China, JD Digits, Shenzhen Securities Information Co. Ltd, CIB FinTech, PINGAN Technology,etc. The forum was chaired by Prof. Wu Junjie, Prof. Li Ping and Prof. Han Liyan.

Zhang Guang, Vice President of Beihang University, first addressed the conference on behalf of the university by saying that the IEB forum plays an important role in building up Beihang to become world-class university and promoting its Economics and Business discipline.

Later, Dean Fan Ying, also delivered a warm speech, saying that the IEB Forum is a high International platform for economics and business established by the Institute of Economics and Business. It has been contributing to enhance Beihang’s Business Research and provides opportunities for scholars and researchers in this field to exchange and share opinions. Prof. Fan also extended her sincere appreciation to the distinguished guests, and wished the forum have fruitful results.

After the opening ceremony of the forum, Prof. Chanaka EDIRISINGHE of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Zhao Yundong, Deputy Director of Agricultural Bank of China, Prof. Li Jianjun of Central University of Finance and Economics, Prof. Yin Zhichao of Capital University of Economics and Business, and associate Prof. Huang Yi gavetheirspeech respectively on the topic of “Financial Technology: Opportunities and Challenges in Innovating Financial Services” “FinTech Technology Empowers the Digital Transformation of Commercial Banks—ABC’S Practice and Thinking” “Thinking of the Construction of FinTech Discipline” “Can Mobile Payment Boost Consumption Upgrading?” and “BigTech and the Changing Structure of Financial Intermediation”.

The forum in the afternoon was divided into two sessions respectivelythemed by“Advances in Academic Research on FinTech” and “Progress in the Practice of FinTech”. Eighteen scholars and professionals shared their late research and practice in the field of FinTech.

This forum provides a platform for communications and interactions between the domestic and foreign scholars in the field of frontier of economics research, and it also brings an academic visual feast for the SEM’s teachers and students. In the future, the Institute of Economic and Business will continue to enhance dialogues and cooperation with leading scholars at home and abroad to promote the development of disciplines of economics and business.
