“Engineering Management Forum” Professor Baozhuang Niu: Research on supply chain structure adjustment and co-opetition incentive enabled by blockchain

At 10:00 am on November 24, 2021, Professor Baozhuang Niu at South China University of Technology was invited to attend the“Engineering Management Forum”, and then gave a lecture on the topic of "Research on supply chain structure adjustment and co-opetition incentive enabled by blockchain" via a video conference held by Professor Tian-Liang Liu. About 40 audiences participated in the conference and discussed with the lecturer.

In this lecture, three important application characteristics of blockchain wereextracted, i.e.,traceability, accountability and shareability, and by combining with scientific problems,and the correspondingmodel analysis was donefor the incentive of enterprises with co-opetition relations in supply chain to participate in blockchain. Prof. Niu introduced three recent exploratory work of his research group in detail, which include quality endorsement decision incentive of cross-border high-end brand blockchain driven by tax system, blockchain imputation arrangement for agricultural products pollution and enterprise profit and loss analysis, and incentive alignment for blockchain adoption in medicine supply chains.

Prof. Niu’s logical and simple explanation broadens audience’s horizon and brings new research enlightenment. The audiences had an in-depth discussion and exchanged ideas with Prof. Niu on the practical application of blockchain technology. Finally, Prof. Niu made many sincere suggestions on the implementation of scientific research and training of scientific research ability for postgraduates.

Professor Baozhuang Niuis now a professor and doctoral advisor of South China University of Technology and was enrolled in the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, Top Talents Program of Ministry of Education, National Science Fund for Outstanding Young Scholars and Member of the CPPCC Guangdong Provincial Committee. Prof. Niu has made series of studiesin the field of cross-border supply chain management in China and published 11 papers on top international journals including two in Manufacturing & Service Operations Management, six in Production and Operations Management, three in Transportation Research Part B and more than sixty papers in Risk Analysis, European Journal of Operational Research, Omega and other well-known journals. His achievements has won the second prize of the 8th Outstanding Achievements of Scientific Research in Colleges (Humanities and Social Sciences), China Youth Award in Management, Excellent Achievement Award of China Information Economics, etc. For the first time in South China, one doctoral graduateof Prof. Niu has been employed as a faculty in an overseas famous university.
