The 6th Beihang IEB Forum Successfully Held

In Nov 9, 2019, the sixth BeihangInternational Economics and Business (IEB) Forum was held at the New MainBuilding Conference Center of Beihang. The forum themed as "Frontiers inTheory and Practice of FinTech", is organized by the Institute ofEconomics & Business and School of Economics & Management. Theconference invited many well-known scholars from world-class universities andenterprises including Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, University of York, GraduateInstitute of Geneva, Tsinghua University, Peking University, Fudan University, SunYat-sen University, Central University of Finance and Economics, CapitalUniversity of Economics and Business, Hong Kong University of Science andTechnology, Southern University of Science and Technology, Tsinghua PBCSF,Beihang University and Ernst & Young, Agricultural Bank of China, JDDigits, Shenzhen Securities Information Co. Ltd, CIB FinTech, PINGANTechnology, www.d-union.net etc.The forum was chaired by Prof. Wu Junjie, Prof. Li Ping and Prof. Han Liyan.

Zhang Guang, Vice President ofBeihang University, first addressed the conference on behalf of the universityby saying that the IEB forum plays an important role in building up Beihang tobecome world-class university and promoting its Economics and Businessdiscipline.  

Later, Dean Fan Ying, alsodelivered a warm speech, saying that the IEB Forum is a high Internationalplatform for economics and business established by the Institute of Economicsand Business. It has been contributing to enhance Beihang’s Business Researchand provides opportunities for scholars and researchers in this field to exchangeand share opinions. Prof. Fan also extended her sincere appreciation to thedistinguished guests, and wished the forum have fruitful results.

After the opening ceremony of theforum, Prof. Chanaka EDIRISINGHE of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Zhao Yundong,Deputy Director of Agricultural Bank of China, Prof. Li Jianjun of CentralUniversity of Finance and Economics, Prof. Yin Zhichao of Capital University ofEconomics and Business, and associate Prof. Huang Yi gave their speechrespectively on the topic of “Financial Technology: Opportunities andChallenges in Innovating Financial Services” “FinTech Technology Empowers theDigital Transformation of Commercial Banks—ABC’S Practice and Thinking” “Thinkingof the Construction of FinTech Discipline” “Can Mobile Payment BoostConsumption Upgrading?” and “BigTech and the Changing Structure of FinancialIntermediation”.

The forum in the afternoon wasdivided into two sessions respectively themed by “Advances in Academic Researchon FinTech” and “Progress in the Practice of FinTech”. Eighteen scholars andprofessionals shared their late research and practice in the field of FinTech.

This forum provides a platformfor communications and interactions between the domestic and foreign scholarsin the field of frontier of economics research, and it also brings an academicvisual feast for the SEM’s teachers and students. In the future, the Instituteof Economic and Business will continue to enhance dialogues and cooperationwith leading scholars at home and abroad to promote the development ofdisciplines of economics and business.
