The Department of Applied Economy, originally known as Department of International Trade, was founded in 1985. With the established advantage from international trade area and the cumulative findings in energy & environmental economy area, the department now strives to make outstanding contribution on the discipline of applied economy, especially in the energy economy, environmental economy, and combining energy and environmental research with economic management theory together as well.
The department has 11 full-time faculty members, including 2 full professors, 3 associate professors, and 6 assistant professors. Nine of them hold PhD degrees and most of them have oversea backgrounds, or international cooperation experiences. One faulty member is supported by National Natural Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, and also selected into CAS Hundred Talent Program and is a National candidate for New Century BaiQianWan Talents Program. Our research areas focus on energy economy, resource and environmental economy, international economics and trade, energy & environmental policy, energy finance, and trade and environment. The key research centers include Beihang University Laboratory of Energy & Environmental Policy, Research Center for Low-carbon Economy, and Research Center for International Business.
Recently our research projects include 4 projects supported separately by National Natural Science Funds for Distinguished Young Scholars, the State Key Program of NSFC, the State Major International Cooperation and Exchanges Program of NSFC, and National Technology Support Program. There are also more than 20 projects supported by National Natural Science Fund or National Social Science Fund, and over 40 projects supported by ministerial and provincial-Level programs, such asthe National Commission of Defensive Science and Technology, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Commerce,and the National Development and Reform Commission etc. The department faculty has published over 100 papers on international academic journals indexed by SCI/SSCI in the field of economics or energy & environmental economic management. Besides academic papers, over 10 books and 20 textbooks are also published by the department faculty.
