As one of the earliest management science and engineering departments in China, the Department of Management Science and Engineering (MS&E) offers two four-year undergraduate programs in Industrial Engineering, Master's and PhD programs, and a Post-Doctoral station. Management science and engineering has been recognized as a national key discipline since 2002. In 2007, it was further approved as a National Level 1 Key Discipline and was ranked 3rd among nationwide universities.
The faculty is highly competitive, which includes very well-known professors. Now it has nineteen full-time faculty members, including eight professors (eight doctoral supervisors), nine associate professors, and two assistant professors. And it is the largest department in the School of Economic and Management.
The MS&E department has established four research centers, namely Center for System Engineering, Center for Complex Data Analysis, Center for Industrial Engineering, and Center for Multi-agent Simulation. Research areas focus on industrial engineering, logistics management, project management, optimization and simulation of production and service systems, decision and decision support systems, complex data analysis, system engineering, and operations research.
Over one hundred research papers have been published in peer-reviewed academic journals indexed by SCI, EI, or SSCI. One research paper has been published on Management Science and two dissertations have been awarded National Excellent Doctoral Dissertation by Ministry of Education.
