Beihang Assoc. Prof. Yannan Dong and Assoc. Prof. Lin Ma, together with Aleksandra Luksyte from the University of Western Australia and Assoc. Prof. Mian Zhang from Tsinghua University, published a paper entitled “Employees' Perceived Overqualification and Spouses' Family-Work Enrichment: Examining the Role of Schedule Control and Competitive Climate” in Personnel Psychology (ABS4*) in the field of management. The research for the first time reveals the how employees’ perceived overqualification influences their spouses' family-work enrichment from the perspective of crossover of resources, and proposes the key moderating roles of schedule control and competitive climate. It offers provides novel theoretical frameworks and practical paths for the organizations seeking to optimize management strategies and improve workplace-family balance. The authors argue that when organizations provide flexible working arrangements (higher schedule control) and reduce internal competition (less competitive climate), employees can more effectively channel workplace-acquired skills and energy into family support resources. This fosters a virtuous cycle wherein work enriches family life, and family engagement reciprocally enhances work performance.
