On February 24th, the Sino-German intergovernmental cooperation project hosted by the team of Prof. Ying Fan ofSEMheld an online academic seminar with the theme of "From energy efficiency to climate neutrality networks: Implemented best practices and concepts for demand flexibility and climate neutrality in industrial companies". More than 100 scholars from Beihang University, German Fraunhofer Institute for Systems and Innovation Research (Fraunhofer ISI), German Corporation for International Cooperation (GIZ), State Grid Energy Research Institute, Chinese Academy of Sciences, German Institute for Resource Efficiency and Energy Strategies (IREES) attended the meeting.

Prof. Ying Fan (Dean of Beihang School of Economics and Management), Prof. Wolfgang Eichhammer (Director of Fraunhofer ISI Energy Policy and Energy Market Center), and Ms. Yuxia Yin (Project Director of GIZ) attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches respectively. The seminar was divided into two parts. The first partwasan overview and introduction of energy end-use demand response and energy efficiency networks. Dr. Marian Klobasa from Fraunhofer ISI, Dr. Molin Huo from State Grid Energy Research Institute, and Dr. Jan Steinbach from IREES shared the experience of Germany and China respectively in this area. The second part of the seminar was a business perspective on industrial energy demand-side flexibility and carbon neutrality. Philipp Andree from Climate Neutrality Companies, Andreas Wade from Viessmann Climate Solutions SE, and Philipp Poferl and MingMafrom Arqum GmbH respectively introduced the practice and experience from enterprises. Speakers expressed their opinions on various topics and answered questions from the audience. Everyone actively participated and the atmosphere was very warm.

This seminar is an important exchange activity of the Sino-German intergovernmental cooperation project "Energy System Optimization for Promoting Large-scale Renewable Energy Utilization". The project hosts are Prof. Ying Fan from Beihang University and Prof. Wolfgang Eichhammer from Fraunhofer ISI. Scholars from China and Germany have conducted in-depth exchanges and cooperation in the aspects of planning and optimization of large-scale energy systems, energy system dispatch optimization for high share renewable energy access, and energy demand side management. The team has produced a number of high-level academic achievements and industrial applications.

The key projects of intergovernmental international scientific and technological innovation cooperation are high-level joint scientific research projects jointly initiated by the Ministry of Science and Technology of China and other countries, aiming at promoting international academic exchanges and promoting multilateral scientific research and technical cooperation in the field of innovation.
