The Defense Economics and Management Research Center at SEM was established in October 2006. The center hosts 4-5 professors who constantly engage in defense economics research. The ongoing research involves the following topics: civil-military integration; transformation of military production capacity to civil areas; assessment of the production capacity and innovation capability in national defense industries; diversified investment, license management, and subsidy in national defense projects; pricing of military products and their cost estimation engineering; defense project management, information system management in military enterprises; post-project evaluation of defense investment in fixed assets; and risk management in key experimental projects.
