From October 30 to November 2, 2023, the 50th International Conference on Computers & Industrial Engineering (CIE50) was held at the American University of Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates. Nearly 300 experts and scholars from 34 countries and regions attended the conference to discuss sustainable digital transformation. A delegation of 12 faculty and students from the Beihang SEM, including Dean Fan Ying, Professor Zhao Qiuhong, Professor Shan Siqing, as well as doctoral and master's students, participated in the event. Dean Fan Ying was invited to deliver a keynote speech on "Impact of Emission Trading Scheme on Production Systems," which received widespread attention and acclaim.
The CIE50 Conference sets up three awards: Best Paper Award, Students Best Paper Award, and Engineering and Innovation Paper Award, with only one paper winner for each category. Professor Shan Siqing's team from Beihang SEM stood out among 228 paper submissions and reviews and won the conference's sole Best Paper Award for their paper titled "Embrace Industry 4.0: a Data-Driven Method on Digital Transformation Evaluation of China's Manufacturing Industry." The authors of the winning paper are Siqing Shan, Haoyuan Zhang, Junze Li, Yiqiong Wang, and Xijie Ju.
The International Conference on Computers & Industrial Engineering is hosted by the internationally renowned journal Computers & Industrial Engineering. This conference is the first one since the 49th CIE Conference hosted by our school in 2019 and will return to its annual tradition. The conference themes revolved around the cutting-edge and hot topics in the fields of computer and industrial engineering. Each conference attracts numerous experts and scholars from around the world and holds extensive influence.
