Abstract:
After the Asian and the world economic crises in the past 10 years, Malaysia is now targeting average growth of 6 percent growth target towards 2020. The growth target is expected to boost per capita income to increase to RM38,845 (US$12,139) by 2015. One of the mechanisms embedded in the plan is creating private sector-led economy, supporting innovation-led growth, full employment and last but not least restructuring of subsidies. Can Malaysia realize the vision 2020? What are the impact of global economic uncertainties to the nation and to what extent the Malaysian economy impacted by the tsunami which struck Japan few weeks ago. The scenario of the ASEAN economics and the Asian economic environment will be presented from Malaysian economic perspectives
