On 27 Mar 2020, the 45th Bi-Week Applied Economics Colloquium was held via a video conference. The speaker Chunan Wang，assistant professor in the SEM of Beihang, gave a lecture on the topic of “Effects of Airline Entry on High-Speed Rail(HSR)”, which investigates the influence of airline entry on frequencies of HSR with different number of stops, train size of HSR and social welfare. Also, an extension about an alternative pricing strategy of HSR is examined and policy implications for the development of regional economies are provided.
More than 50 teachers and students of the SEM participated in the video conference and discussed the study with the speaker. We are looking forward to the Bi-Week Applied Economics Colloquium next time.
