Dr. Haitao Yin: Eliminating Small Firms or Noncompliant Firms: A Comparative Analysis of Two Ways to Control Pollution

On 14 December, 2018, we welcomed the speaker Dr. Haitao Yin from Shanghai JiaoTong University. He obtained his Ph.D in Applied Economics and ManagementScience at The Wharton School in University of Pennsylvania. His researchfocuses on Environmental Economy and Policy and Energy Economy and PolicyResearch.

Inthe seminar, Dr. Xu presented his last research “Eliminating Small Firms orNoncompliant Firms: A Comparative Analysis of Two Ways to Control Pollution”, whichstudies two common practices--closing small firms and shutting downnoncompliant companies, under the command and control environmental policy. Ittheoretically analyzes the difference between them, and further empiricallyinvestigates how the surviving firms could be affected differently by thesepollution control methods.
