Dr. Jiayin Hu: Regulating Shadow Banks: Financial Innovation versus Systemic Risk
On 20 December, 2018, we welcomed the speaker Dr. JiayinHu from Columbia University.Her research focuses on banking, financial intermediation, and appliedcorporate finance. In the seminar, Dr. Hu presented her last research “RegulatingShadow Banks: Financial Innovation versus Systemic Risk”, which develops a bankrun model featuring the tradeoff between financial innovation and systemic riskto investigate the role of shadow banking and the regulation. This studyis the first to formalize the designation authority of a macro-prudentialregulator in systemic risk regulation.
More than 20teachers and students of the School of Economics and Management haveparticipated in the seminar and discussed the study with Dr. Hu. We are lookingforward to the Bi-Week Applied Economics Colloquium next week.
