On Aprial 7th, Prof. Christoph Meinel, Director and CEO of Hasso Plattner Institut (HPI), and his colleagues and students received warmly welcome from Vice president Tang Xiaoqing at the Conference Center of New Main Building.
In the meeting, Vice President Tang introduced the latest development of computer science and business information system major of our university. She also expressed the appreciations and showed the supports to the research cooperation and academic exchanges initiated by HPI. After the meeting, professors and students from School of Economics and Management and School of Computer Science had a detailed discussion with Prof. Meinel and his group. Prof. Chen Xiangdong hosted the discussions. Attendees included Prof. Liu Chao (Vice Dean of School of Computer Science), Prof. Qian Depei (Director of Sino-German Software Institute), Prof. Fang Weiguo (Vice Dean of School of Economics and Management), Prof. Liu Lu, Prof. Jia Suling, Dr. Hao Jinxing and postgraduates from School of Economics and Management.
HPI was founded in 1998 by Prof. Hasso Plattner, co-founder and supervisory board chairman of SAP and probably Germany’s foremost private patron of the sciences. HPI has been the only institution in Germany to offer Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in IT Systems Engineering. The HPI works closely with a network of distinguished academic partner institutions such as Stanford University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Many large, well-established companies in the IT and communications technology industries ? Microsoft, SAP, Siemens, IBM, Telekom, and others – also work with the HPI. Results of research projects are immediately integrated into the curriculum of the nine specializations that are currently offered.
